From Systems Expert to AI Consultant
Deborah had spent more than two decades as an online business manager and tech consultant when she first encountered ChatGPT in mid-2022. From the moment she saw it, she could immediately see “a million different ways it could benefit my clients.” AI itself was not intimidating to her but what she struggled with the most was knowing how to get properly up to speed and how to position it in her work.
She knew there was a world beyond ChatGPT, but needed structured training, clarity on the wider ecosystem, and in some cases the credibility that comes with certification to confidently embark into the AI space. Having already taken other Hyper Entrepreneur programs and trusted the quality, she joined AICC early. For Deborah, what stood out most was not the theory, but instead the walkthroughs and real-time information.
Deborah explains that having someone regularly walk through tools, pricing, and real use cases was “gold.” She did not need to learn how to consult. She needed to learn how AI actually fit into real businesses and AICC did that.
Branding That Changed Everything
Within two weeks of completing the training, Deborah was hired as an AI consultant. The shift was surprisingly simple. She added AI consulting to her LinkedIn profile and suddenly people started reaching out, asking “AI? Who are you? Can we meet?”
This simple repositioning allowed her to move away from pure implementation work and into higher-value consulting. Moving into her new business model, she grandfathered her existing clients at $65 per hour, and introduced a new rate for her AI strategy and build work at $150 per hour. Referrals increased quickly as clients were asked who was helping them with AI, it was as she describes it, an explosion in her business.
Practical, Human-First AI Systems
Deborah’s approach to AI consulting is grounded in outcomes, not hype. She focuses on workflows, internal agents, and systems clients will actually use, often integrating with existing tools rather than replacing them.
One of her best examples of this involves consolidating fragmented organisational knowledge spread across Salesforce, founders’ heads, and team leads, without forcing every team member into expensive licenses. The goal is not novelty, but clarity, accessibility, and better decision-making. And amazingly despite the scale of her work, Deborah runs the business solo. As she puts it, it is just her and “an army of little AI bots.”
Revenue Growth and Expansion
Over the last two years, Deborah estimates that both her client numbers and revenue have roughly doubled. Today, her business generates around $150,000 USD per year across consulting, projects, and training.
In addition to client work, she runs a small group called AI Curious, a pod designed to help people explore AI in a safe, practical, and playful environment. What began with beginners and skeptics has evolved into a space for people who understand the basics but want to integrate AI meaningfully into their businesses.
For Deborah, learning should feel collaborative and fun. She describes AI as a playground and herself as “a kid in a candy store,” bookmarking tools and returning to explore them when time allows.
Ongoing Value from AICC and HAU
Deborah remains active inside HAU, regularly attending live training sessions when her schedule allows. She sees ongoing value not just in tool coverage, but in shortening her learning curve. Having a central place to check whether a tool has already been covered saves time and helps her plan projects more confidently. She describes the program as absolutely worth the investment and has referred multiple people into it.
For those considering a similar path, her advice is simple. Do not be afraid of AI. If you can think of it, it can be built. Deborah also recommends AICC both to those who want to become AI consultants and to experienced operators who want deep, practical exposure to the tools shaping the market. She believes strongly that while AI accelerates capability, the human element must always remain part of the equation. AI is not here to replace people. It is here to help them do more with less friction, stress, and overwhelm.
